Athletics - Purdue University Calumet

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. ? Just months removed from wrapping up a stellar 2011 recruiting class, Purdue University Calumet women?s basketball coach Tom Megyesi got his 2012 class off and running with the signing of Perry Meridian star Alli Gentry. Gentry became the first member of the Peregrines? 2012 class, after signing with PUC on Wednesday afternoon.

?Alli is the complete package, she has speed, she can score as well as defend and is also an outstanding student,? said Megyesi.? ?We are thrilled that she has chosen to join our team and feel that she can help us take the program to the next level.?

The 5-foot-8 guard adds depth to an already potent Peregrines? backcourt and will be counted on to help fill in for All-CCAC guard Stephaine Beck, who will wrap up her illustrious four-year career this spring. Gentry averaged 11.3 points and 2.3 steals per game to go along with 34 treys as a junior for the Falcons.

The Indianapolis native has put together an impressive list of honors on the hardwood, highlighted by First Team All-Conference Indiana and All-Marion County accolades last season. She was also named to the IBCA Top 100 Showcase in each of her past two seasons and has helped claim numerous titles on the AAU circuit, including the 2009 (14U) AAU National Championship as a member of Spiece Indy Gym Rats.

Gentry is a member of Perry Meridian?s National Honor Society and has been a consistent A-Honor Roll selection at the school.

Purdue Calumet will open the 2011-12 season on Nov. 4, when it hosts Midway during the second annual PUC Tip-Off Classic.
