I met Chanelle when she was 7 years old in 1997, right of way she stole my heart.? Her Mom stole my heart prior to that of course? Here is the letter she (Nelly) wrote to me Last Father?s Day (2012)
First of all, when I met Nelly I had never been a Dad before? It was scary, her Mom already had my number, now I had to win the kids heart. Here is what I did?
1. I did not buy their love, I observed, listened and became their friend by being helpful.
2. I never asked them to call me Daddy, they called me what their Mom called me. Robbie!
3. I never talked bad or tried to show off in front of their bio dad, I totally respected him.
4. I played all types of games with them and acted a little nutty to make them laughed, helped to put them to bed.
5. I never disciplined them, I made sure that Charle (their Mom) did that and I did not offer any advice either.
To make a long story short about 2 years later, Charle and I got married (1999) but, even before that Nelly asked me if she can call me Daddy, of course right of way I melted in front of her and I hugged her and I said, of course you can? It was a great feeling.? Because of Nelly doing that, her little sister Cierra followed right along and started calling me Daddy also.? That was one of the best days of my life.
Cierra was 9 Months old when I met her, Charle and I added another girl to the family, her name is Madisyn? No one in our family has ever use the word STEP, its just not in our vocabulary...So here are all my girls today!
About Robbie Mendoza
Writing about my experiences as a husband, Dad and Son is my passion. Been married for the last 15 years to my soulmate, sweetheart, best friend and partner. It only took me 47 years to find her. Charlene and I have 3 young ladies Chanelle 22, Cierra 16 and Madisyn 7. Being in a position to inspire leadership in others and watch people rise to new levels in their life and achieve things they never thought possible is what pumps me full of adrenalin. At the end of the day it?s not about money or things, what really ignites the passion for life is making a profound difference in people?s lives. That?s what makes life worth living.Source: http://speakingfromthehearthq.com/good-parenting-tips/step-parenting-tips/
