Twitter to close down Posterous blogging service

Posterous-Mobile-App-1-580-75

Shockingly, Twitter has actually closed down?Posterous, the simple blogging and note-sharing service?bought by Twitter last year, for good, however, it won?t be forgotten. You?re still in our hearts, well, some of our hearts that is.

The blogging tool is loved across the world, although with competitors such as Tumblr?advancing, it has been almost impossible to keep up to date. The service will be completely shut down this April. Good-bye old?friend.

Twitter purchased the service for an?undisclosed?fee in March 2012, so it?s obviously been defecting since then, hence the reason for its closure. We will honestly miss it, but there are other options out there, so don?t threat.

Posterous founder and CEO Sachin Agarwal today confirmed Twitter?s?decision?to close the service on their official company blog, meaning that some jobs will be lost and accounts deactivated, but is this for the best?

Anyway, he also confirmed that the Posterous team would be working on other Twitter projects, so some people will be saved from the job axe. He reckons that Twitter?s purchase was nothing more than a talent raid. We agree.
