New Hampshire Primary Election: Ron Paul Looks To Motivated Supporters For Strong Showing

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Ron Paul has been counting on the "Live Free or Die" state of New Hampshire to propel his unorthodox campaign into the next round of presidential contests.

Polls have shown the Texas congressman running second to Mitt Romney in New Hampshire, which hosts its primary Tuesday. Paul placed third in Iowa's caucuses last week.

Paul's libertarian, isolationist message has attracted a loyal following among some Republicans as well as independents, who can vote in the primary. He planned to fly to South Carolina, next up on the calendar, on Wednesday to show he'll play a role in the nation's first southern contest.

Paul planned to visit polling places around New Hampshire Tuesday. While he's steered clear of criticizing front-runner Mitt Romney, Paul has said the former Massachusetts governor is part of the "political establishment" he hopes to tackle as president.

Paul held town hall meetings in Hollis and Stratham Monday. He was crushed by a media mob when he visited a Manchester diner over breakfast.
